In July I did an internship in Braintree, England, about a one-hour-drive north-east of London. I worked for Trials UK. Ltd., a subsidiary of Wintersteiger. Two apprentices of this company joined me.
On our first day we got a briefing from our boss and I realized straight away that understanding and even talking English was no big problem for me. In the first week we did some interesting customizations like mounting the weighing system on a plot combine. I was quite surprised that our supervisor in the workshop had so much trust in us and let us do some demanding tasks. At the end of the second week I got allocated to the customer service. That meant that a colleague and I drove to the customers where we repaired the machines on site.
In our free time we did a lot of sightseeing. We went to Colchester, Chelmsford, and for a whole day to London. We visited Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and many more well-known attractions. In the evening we often watched a movie in the cinema. For sure we went to some pubs to try some English dishes and one or the other pint of beer. On the last Thursday our boss took us to Cambridge, where we went on a boat tour.
In a nutshell, those four weeks were simply great and a very valuable experience. I can really recommend that to every student. Thanks a million to Wintersteiger for making this internship possible.
